I Can Fly Higher Than an Eagle
You are the wind beneath my wings. I feel that everything in life can be summed up in a Bette Midler song. And I only know two of them. For you young kids, she was in the movie Hocus Pocus. Who am I kidding, the young ones probably have no idea what that is?However anytime that I go hiking I feel so free and powerful. I feel like an Eagle.
I had decided that it was time to start climbing peaks for the year. Snow is fading fast in the high country as summer knocks on the door. I set out to climb Y Mountain located on the eastern edge of Provo. It is 3.5 miles up and 3.5 back. It raises 4,000 feet in that 3.5 miles. For those playing at home that is more than 1,000 feet per mile. Doing 7 miles of elevation and oxygen loss is NOTHING like running or walking 7 miles in the city. My glute muscles are destroyed! Project Beyonce Booty Bounce is totally on track. ( I kid )
A lot like running, when I am hiking the world goes away and I am just alone and in my element. No one to impress. It’s me against myself. I am the only thing that can stand in my way. And just like that I spent the next 4 hours doing a 7 mile hike. STEEP!!!! How is it every time I hike up a hill I think to myself, I can’t wait to go downhill instead. When going downhill I think, going up wasn’t that bad. The stomping is not fun either. Stupid grass being greener on the other side.

To the top I go!

Nearing the top! I now know a great place to base jump. ( Things I will do before I die, like 5 seconds before I die, because it will probably kill me. )

At the top! No day at the beach, tough stuff.

Home below. And Eagles below too. I soared higher!

What dead freaking tired looks like! But proof I did it! Hurry up legs and be all better so I can run again!
