Just in case not everyone was aware of my love for birdwatching then let me tell you… I love birdwatching. (getting better at owning my geekdom) So saying that I killed 3 birds with one stone may not be the best word choice for someone like me, but hey, when you can take care of 3 things at once, then why the heck not!
Upon waking up and finding a bird alert on my cell phone ( don’t judge, you know you want to sign up too. ) I realized that I had to see the bird. However instead of walking down the trail along the lakeshore to find the bird I decided to pack my bike along.
So I arrived at that trail, unloaded my bike, biked the several miles to the location of the bird with binoculars in tow and was able to find the bird. ( Northern Waterthrush was the bird, I know you you were dying to know! )I biked those several miles back to the truck and loaded the bike back up.
I went straight from putting the bike in the truck to taking off on a run straight from the truck. I was going for a little biathlon motif. I was running along along a river and lake and at no time did the thought of jumping in and swimming sound remotely appealing. I so am not meant for a triathlon. ( fast forward a year from now and I probably will have done one. ) Anyhow those legs are still angry about last Saturday’s half marathon. So I did some run walk action for 3 miles. And that my friend is how you kill 3 bird with one stone… Maybe after all it was a triathlon. I mean birding is a sport after all.
